FAA offers fix for complicated Florida air travel this summer

Flying to Florida has sometimes become a nightmare in recent months, and now federal officials have said they will do something to fix things.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Wednesday it would increase the number of air traffic controllers in Florida and take other measures to improve the flow of aircraft over the state. The promise comes after FAA officials held a two-day meeting with a dozen airline representatives.

Air travel to Florida has grown faster than the pandemic in many other places, and airlines have scheduled even more flights for this summer.

The agency also agreed to update the airline more frequently about space launches and other incidents that could hinder flights on routes used by airlines in Florida. The airline said it had been caught unawares by closed routes, forcing flights to be canceled. The Associated Press reported.
