EXCLUSIVE: Senior citizen, 14-year-old girl punched in head in unprovoked attacks in San Francisco

San Francisco (KGO)-People in some areas of San Francisco are coming out in the middle of the day after an elderly person is bravely hit in the head from behind.

On Wednesday, when something unexpected happened, 72-year-old Chikwan Yen was shopping outside the window.

“Suddenly I felt a pop behind my head.”

Chi-Kwan is a former West Portal resident currently living in Palo Alto. When he returned to his old neighborhood last Wednesday to appoint an optometrist, a man suddenly hit his head from behind.

“I have heart disease and had angioplasty within a year. I’m still using anticoagulants, so I thought this could cause cerebral bleeding. Is what I was really worried about.

Surveillance videos used in police investigations show Chi-Kwan returning soon.

“I exercise a lot and do tai chi and martial arts,” he explained.

Thankfully, he suffered only head and knee pain.

“I was lucky this time, but maybe not next time.”

After sharing a video of the incident on social media, West Portal residents contacted me and said they knew someone who was the victim of an attack that was not provoked in a similar manner.

One of those people is Linda Porter. Her 14-year-old daughter Lily went for a walk with a friend a few days before Chikwan’s attack when she was beaten and knocked to the ground.

“There was no way to prevent it from doing random and meaningless violence. She was clearly psychologically upset,” says Linda.

The SFPD could not see the link between the attacks, but both have similar MOs. It urged Chi-Kwan to take action.

When asked why it was important for you to move forward, Chikwan replied thoughtfully and passionately.

“Asians need to stand up. At first I thought I would forget it. I wouldn’t report. Then I thought. I need to stand up to be counted. Otherwise this will continue. It may happen again. “

Police say both investigations are underway.
