Escondido Police Checkpoint Results in DUI Arrest, 38 Citations

Police arrested one driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and another due to a pending warrant at a checkpoint that began on Saturday, Escondido Police Station he said.

The checkpoint was held from 6 a.m. Saturday through 1 a.m. Sunday at Valley Parkway and Avenida Del Diable, said Lt. Scott Walters.

Of the 847 vehicles that passed the checkpoint, 38 drivers received reports of driving without a license or of suspension or revocation of a license, the lieutenant said.

The next checkpoint will be in August.

The funding for the enforcement was provided with a grant from California Traffic Safety Bureau.
