Elvis-themed chapels receive cease-and-desist letters

LAS VEGAS – The Las Vegas Love Chapels, which resemble Elvis Presley, can be turned into a Heartbreak Hotel.

The licensing company that controls Elvis ’name and image has ordered some Sin City chapel operators to stop using Elvis in themed wedding ceremonies.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Authentic Brands Group sent suspension letters to several chapels in early May.

The letters said the company would stop using Presley’s name, image, image and other items related to his person without permission.

Authentic Brands added that “Elvis”, “Elvis Presley” “and” The King of Rock and Roll “are trademarks.

The wedding operators are expected to meet by now.

With Elvis being closely linked to the Las Vegas wedding industry, some chapel owners have said the move could slow down business.

Industry leaders in the Las Vegas wedding industry say the crackdown could have a detrimental effect on wedding tourism in the city.

Authentic Brands oversees the names of other big celebrities, including Marilyn Monroe and Muhammad Ali.
