“We are not just looking for change. We are demanding it. We want to remedy the long-standing problems surrounding cultural and racism that exist in the district.” Said elementary school teacher Adrian Cardenas.
Cardenas said inequality became more apparent in the district during the pandemic and accused the board of being okay to leave some students behind.
Stephen Fogg, Chairman of the Board, clarified what he said at the last meeting, stating that the Board should not hinder progress and will take some to another example.
Meanwhile, trustees are hearing recommendations for a one-time bonus for all employees to reward their efforts during the pandemic.
Funding is set to come from general sources and does not affect student programs.
