Three children were run over by a driver at a school inside California before an explosive was found in the driver’s car at an elementary school.

The victims were believed to be walking on a sidewalk outside Taft Elementary School when the driver hit them with his car. They were all taken to a local hospital, where they will be treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the Santa Ana Police Department confirmed.

Authorities said the suspect entered the school without permission, resulting in a lockdown, before he was escorted off campus by security. He walked away and drove away in his car before driving a few blocks further on the students.

Police have not yet released the names, age or gender of the victims. A ‘suspected arson’ was found in the suspect’s car when an on – site investigation was conducted.

The Orange County Bomb Squad was called to search the car further. Three more fire extinguisher devices were eventually found, according to KTLA.

The elementary school returned to normal after the incident.
