Driver arrested for DUI after car hits pillar in Hesperia – VVNG.com

HESPERIA, California (VVNG.com) – A 42-year-old man from Victorville who was driving under the influence hit a pole, leaving several residents of Hesperia without electricity early Wednesday morning.

It happened around 5:21 a.m. on March 23, 2022, at 16200 Sycamore Street between Fifth and Seventh Avenues.

A 2001 dark-colored Toyota Camry driver lost control and crashed into a wooden pole. The pole was completely trimmed at the base and landed on a GMC SUV that was parked inside one yard.

Camry eventually stopped after hitting through a chain link fence and into another yard where he crashed into several trash cans.

Residents detained male driver Camry until police arrived. He was placed in the back of the patrol vehicle, and was later given a field sobriety test.

Sheriff’s officials said the driver, Geronimo Garcia-Urbina, a resident of Victorville, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and placed in the High Desert Detention Center for VC23152 (a) – DUI Alcohol and VC23152 (b) DUI over 0.08.

Edison crews from Southern California responded to replace the damaged pole and downed lines.

No one was injured, and the official cause of the accident is being investigated by the Hesperia Police Department.
