The Los Angeles Dodgers erased a deficit of two runs in the ninth inning to equalize late, but that wasn’t enough as the New York Mets managed to get hit by Pete Alonso and JD Davis.

Davis doubled in a sharp drive to center field in the 10th, sending Alonso home, while the Mets continued to take their eighth win in 10 games with a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at the Dodger Stadium.

With the loss, Los Angeles (35-19) finished its seven home games with a 2-5 record, until it was recently swept away by the Pittsburgh Pirates and is now adding a four-game streak to New York (37-19).

“Obviously it ends with a sour note of losing two in a row at home,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts.

Mets Peter Trevor Williams hit five in five innings and conceded six goals for New York, while rookie Adonis Medina hit Will Smith in the 10th to save in a thriller.

“You can see how talented they are, their direction and the line-up they have,” said Trea Turner, who had a successful trip to the Dodgers. “They are quite a club full of balls, just like us. “Every time you can face one of the best teams in the league, it’s always fun and I think it was a lot of fun.”

LA managed to strike the first blow after a double Homer from Turner in the first inning to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

“Homer from Trea was great, but we just gave up for seven innings and didn’t threaten,” Roberts said. ”

“I’m just looking for ground in the area and I’m just keeping it,” Turner said at his home run.

Julio Urias conceded just three goals and one shot in the sixth for the Dodgers, returning after difficulties in his previous two starts.

However, Brusdard Graterol entered the game after allowing three runs on Saturday night and failed to stop the Mets from catching momentum when Francisco Lindor and Alonso took the lead with consecutive doubles to tie the score at 2-2 in the eighth.

“The boys were able to throw the baseball well,” Roberts said.

Starling Marte hit the third and the Mets took a 4-2 lead after scoring three runs in the eighth after Alonso, Escobar and Thomas Nido, who drove in the run against the Dodgers’ bullpen.

“It doesn’t matter how hard you throw,” Roberts added for Graterol. “You still have to command baseball, and it just isn’t.”

The Dodgers responded quickly after Will Smith led a home run to the right to reduce his deficit to 4-3 in the ninth, causing Chris Taylor to explode a double with two outs on the left field line.

Eddie Alvarez then aimed a sharp ball at the center of the field, allowing Taylor to score and even a 4-4 game for LA, just before New York responded again.

Dodgers closer Craig Kimbrell had a chance to save, but Davis doubled to the center of the field on the line, sending Alonso home for what would be a winning streak in the game after LA failed to score in the late 10’syou.

“You could have had the opportunity to get rid of these guys, and to let such a team hang around, they will drop a few runs on the board. That’s what happened, “Roberts said.

After a day of travel, the Dodgers will prepare for a three-game streak as the LA face the Chicago White Sox (25-27) on Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field at 5:10 p.m.
