San Diego County Attorney Summer Stefan will be re-elected for a second four-year term in November, as no rival candidate has advanced before the primary submission deadline.

Stefan will be the only candidate for prosecutor on the ballot for the November 8th general elections. As he has no opponent, Stefan’s name will not appear on the ballot in the June 7 primary.

“The outpouring of support we have received throughout this campaign has been truly humiliating and strengthens for me our core mission: to uphold the rule of law and never play politics with the security of San Diego,” he told supporters in an email. on Tuesday.

He vowed to be “in the fight every day to keep the whole of San Diego County safe by holding criminals accountable, protecting victims’ rights and promoting responsible common sense reforms so that every San Diego is treated fairly according to the law.”

After being appointed district attorney in 2017 after Bonnie Dumanis retired, Stephan won public defender Geneviéve Jones-Wright in the 2018 general election.
