Mike’s Grill is where you find the apt name “Hanford Burger”.
“Onion ring, our homemade barbecue sauce, melted jack and cheddar and bacon on toasted bread with buttered garlic,” said Mike Murietta.
Customers smile when he arrives and keep smiling between bites.
“You can’t beat it,” says Kadie McGaha. “It’s amazing and for the prices for what you get, it’s really good.”
Mike and his wife, Patti, have been serving South Valley favorites for over 21 years.
“The Philly cheesecake is probably our most popular sandwich, next to the pastrami sandwich,” said Patti.
Sometimes, they even accept requests.
“We have two dairy farmers who have created their own linguica sandwich with two fried eggs,” said Patti.
MIke says it all starts with quality ingredients.
“It is Angus certified beef, aged and to perfection,” he said.
This is the kind of place where everyone knows your name.
“It does not matter if you are an old customer or a new customer,” says Curt McGaha. “If he’s not busy behind this grill, he goes out. Not 30 seconds. He will kneel and talk to you about how you are doing.”
“I would say it’s the environment of our city,” Patti said. “I mean, everyone knows everyone in Hanford.”
Mike’s Grill also plays a part in Hanford’s story. We were told that its original location was the location of the first gas station in Kings County.
