Deputies Seek Man Who Followed Boy in Santee

A man tried to drag a 16-year-old boy into a van in Santee on Tuesday afternoon.

A man driving a truck at 9100 block on Carlton Hills Boulevard motioned for the boy, who was riding his bicycle, to get into the van around 3:30 p.m., Sgt said. Michael Gonzales’s San Diego County Sheriff’s Office.

The boy ignored the driver of the van and continued towards the house. He then saw the truck following him to Santee Town Center trolley station near Town Center Parkway, where the driver stopped in front of the victim and shook his hand to get the boy into the truck, Gonzales said.

The boy went home and told his parents, who called the sheriff’s station.

The suspect is described as a man from the Middle East in his 40s with a modest physique, black hair, mustache and short hairstyle. The van he drove was described as a Ford Econoline in the late 1990s with tinted windows and beige curtains at the rear, Gonzales said.
