LAKESIDE – MPs are looking for a teenage suspect after an apparently racist attack on a 16-year-old girl.
A 16-year-old girl, who is black, was found stabbed twice in the back on Saturday at 1200 block on Maple Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.
She was taken to a local hospital and treated for her injuries. Her current status was not disclosed.
According to the department, a group of teenagers approached the victim and his family, shouting racist slanders, around 23:00 on Saturday. Shortly afterwards, a fight ensued, during which the victim was injured.
It was not immediately clear which family members were with the 16-year-old girl at the time of the incident.
“After speaking with the victim’s family, lawmakers were able to identify and arrest a minor believed to be the suspect’s girlfriend because he fired a gun,” said Lt. Shawn Wray. “She was later released under the custody of her guardian.”
During the investigation, the deputies identified a suspect of stabbing in addition to other comrades of the group. Deputies are actively looking for the suspect, but have not given more information due to age.
