The European Championship match between Denmark and Finland was interrupted on Saturday after Christian Eriksen needed urgent medical attention on the field near the end of the first half.
Eriksen was treated for about 10 minutes after collapsing in the field before being carried on a stretcher. UEFA then announced that the game was interrupted “for emergency care”.
Eriksen was about to receive the ball from his teammate’s throw-in. He fell forward and seemed to fall face down on the field. Teammates gathered around the star while he was being treated.
The stadium announcer asked fans to stay seated until more information was provided.
The Eurosoccer tournament started on Friday. Saturday marked the first full day of the match on the group stage.
