Earlier this month, The 90-day-old groom: The other way around alum Deavan Clegg shared the good news.
Unfortunately, Taeyang has now suffered an unexpected health struggle.
Deavan revealed that her 3-year-old son is being treated for leukemia.
On Tuesday, May 31, Deavan Clegg visited Instagram to share heartbreaking news.
“I have vowed to always be 100% transparent with you,” he began.
“And,” Deavan continued, “I decide to share the most vulnerable and saddest point in my life right now.”
Deavan explained that he only opens up “in the hope that it can help give to anyone else dealing with a similar situation.”
“I have seized so much emotion and destruction when announcing that my dear son Taeyang,” he said.
“Who just celebrated his third birthday last week,” Deavan said, “was just diagnosed with childhood cancer.”
“B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia just a few days ago,” Deavan clarified.
“He has already gone through several procedures,” he said, “and started chemotherapy just two days ago.”
Deavan said, “This is every parent’s worst nightmare, and I’m trying hard to stay strong on my stomach for Taeyang, Drascilla, and my baby.”
“Taeyang needs round-the-clock hospital care,” Deavan explained.
“And this is going to be a long two-year process,” he clarified.
Fortunately, Deavan pointed out that “the success rate of a full recovery in five years is high.”
“I’m still processing all of this and asking for prayers,” Deavan asked.
“If anyone wanted to donate to help with his medical care,” he added, “I would be forever grateful because this nightmare has been completely unexpected.”
“The link to donate is in my bios,” Deavan shared the link here.
“I’m also creating some sort of fundraising t-shirt this week,” Deavan continued.
He explained that he was “still trying to wrap my head around all of this.”
“Also, if anyone knows about child cancer support groups and resources,” Deavan asked, “mark them below.”
“I’m so off at the moment and my heart is broken,” Deavan wrote.
“Thank you to your friends and supporters for your prayers, your healing feelings, and your strength,” he concluded.
That’s devastating news, and we keep Taeyang and the whole family in our thoughts.
It took weeks of urgent hospitalizations and consultations before Taeyang was diagnosed.
B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia can be fatal in months or even weeks if left untreated.
EVERYTHING most commonly occurs in children. According to 2015 statistics, it requires the lives of about one-eighth of those diagnosed.
Taeyang is now receiving treatment, and of course we hope for the best.
Healthcare is very expensive, but Deavan and Topher prioritize Taeyang. We know that this treatment process will be difficult for him.
We all hope for a quick and complete forgiveness of Taeyang. He is surrounded by a family that loves him and makes him as comfortable as possible when he spends time in and out of hospitals.
