Day Around the Bay: Raising Cane's New Oakland Location Opens to More Than 400 Chicken Finger Enthusiasts

  • More than 400 people lined up for Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers when the new location in Oakland opened this morning on Edgewater Drive and Hegenberger Road. Some people lined up as early as 4am, 20 lucky people won free raising cane’s for a year, and the Chicken Finger Chain happily showed the size of the line. [KRON-4]
  • The SF Standard assessed the five SF Supervisor races in November and concluded that only two of them are likely to be competitive in any way. The supes up for re-election are D2’s Catherine Stefani (unopposed), D4’s Gordon Mar (two potentially legitimate challengers), D6’s Matt Dorsey (Barn Burner vs. Honey Mahogany), Rafael Mandelman of D8 (has an opponent but will likely roll out) and Shamannn Walton of D10 (will likely win in a snoozer).   • Another brushfire in the East Bay disrupted BART’s Antioch line for almost 90 minutes this afternoon. The fire started at 2:23 p.m., was extinguished at 2:44 p.m., reignited at 3:30 p.m. and BART ran again at 3:40 p.m [KPIX]
  • About four hours earlier in Antioch, a speeding vehicle crashed into a tree, caught fire and then collided with a second vehicle, killing the driver of the speeding car. [KTVU]
  • A 34-year-old Oakley woman is in custody for “acts of lewdness and lasciviousness” with teenagers and prosecutors have filed 21 charges against her and more are expected as more victims come forward. [KRON-4]
  • Donald Trump’s first wife and businesswoman Ivana Trump has died after an apparent fall down a flight of stairs, and she may have suffered cardiac arrest first. She was 73. [CNN]
