Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Dave’s Hot Chicken is opening its first location in Sacramento, fueling the hot chicken trend in the area. The new restaurant will be located in Sacramento County at 3409 Arden Way, directly across from a McDonald’s. This location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 10:30am. until 11:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 a.m. until midnight. Dave’s Hot Chicken specializes in hot chicken tenders and offers sides of fries, macaroni and cheese, and slaw. Seven spice levels from “no spice” to “Reaper” will be available, though the Reaper level requires a signed waiver for those intrepid souls, according to a company news release. Rapper Drake, actor Samuel L. Jackson and former California First Lady Maria Shriver are among the company’s investors. Restaurant founders Arman Oganesyan, chef Dave Kopushyan and brothers Tommy and Gary Rubenyan first launched a hot chicken parking lot pop-up in 2017, according to a press release. Soon after, they opened their first official restaurant in East Hollywood. The company has sold hundreds of franchise locations in the U.S. and Canada, according to the company, and hopes to open another 25 locations within the year. It plans to open locations soon in Folsom and Fair Oaks, KCRA 3 confirmed. This announcement comes just weeks after the Sacramento Hot Chicken Battle, in which local restaurants battled for the title of “Best Hot Chicken in Sac.” hot chicken train.
