Dave Chappelle Shows Canceled By Venue After Backlash, But the Show Will Go On

Dave Chappelle has strangely canceled a Minnesota concert venue he was due to perform on Wednesday night – after a social media attack.
The comedian was scheduled to take the stage Wednesday at First Avenue, a famous venue in downtown Minneapolis, but hours before his sold-out show, they announced his show was scrapped.
Chapelle’s show was announced Monday, and tickets sold out in five minutes Tuesday … but some people flooded social media to express displeasure with First Avenue hosting Dave for his controversial Netflix special.
First Ave says they heard the backlash and made a point, explaining that they were letting people down because they didn’t hold themselves to the “highest standards.” The venue says it’s a safe space and lost sight of the impact that a Chappelle show creates.
One of the comments on social media… “Notified 24 hours in advance because you know what you’re doing platforming and simply keep chasing money cowards.”
Which is odd… the venue had to know about Dave’s special and subsequent appearances and the controversy it caused.
Dave will still be hitting the stage Wednesday in Minneapolis, just not on First Ave … according to the venue, his show will be moved to the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown.
Chappelle has two more shows at the Varsity Theater on Thursday and Friday … so it will be interesting to see how his week goes.
Stay tuned…
