The European Championship match between Copenhagen-Denmark and Finland was interrupted on Saturday as Christian Eriksen needed urgent medical attention in the field near the end of the first half.
Eriksen was treated for about 10 minutes after collapsing in the field before being carried on a stretcher. UEFA then announced that the game was interrupted “for emergency care”.
The stadium announcer asked fans to stay seated until more information was provided.
Eriksen had just played a short pass when he turned to the front and fell to the ground. His teammates immediately made a gesture for help, and the doctor rushed to the field. Eriksen suffered chest compressions as his teammates stood around him on a shielded wall to protect their privacy.
Finnish players flocked to the bench and eventually left the field while Eriksen was still being treated, as the referee did.
Eriksen eventually received a big applause, and his teammates were walking next to the stretcher.
I’ll explain this story in more detail.
