Literal red carpet dressing is always entertaining (see Zendaya Spiderman promo tour) and last night Daisy Edgar-Jones proved that she also has fun with fashion. At the New York premiere Where the Crawdads Singthe British actress gave a quiet nod to her character Kya, or more specifically, the swamp she inhabits in North Carolina via Gucci.
A colorful look from the Italian brand’s roving Cosmogonie show, set in Puglia, was one piece. Flies, a two-part dance floor. Daisy Edgar-Jones proved that dressing the main character doesn’t have to veer into costume territory. With just a sprinkling of Tiffany & Co. diamonds for company, the 24-year-old looked playful yet stylish.
Edgar-Jones burst onto the scene as a classic English rose with a feminine British girl-favourite – read: The Vampire’s Wife, Bella Freud – that her stylist Nicky Yates does so well. As her star has risen and her film roles have diversified, Daisy has become more confident and playful in the spotlight. She was one of the first to wear Loewe’s cult split egg heels with a deconstructed silver cap and has tapped bralette trend more than once. at Vogue party, he is everything flapper-style pearl decoration and sass.
If this fresh floral apartment marks a new dawn for Daisy, bring along the rest of the squeeze circle. Next stop: Alexander McQueen’s haunted underwater tribe Spring/Summer 2010 collection? Or perhaps the designer’s poignant Fall/Winter 2008 line titled The girl who lived in a tree? An archival hit would confirm this bright young object for serious consideration.
