CLOVIS, California (KFSN) – Father’s Day ended in tragedy for a Valley family.

Police say 41-year-old Ashton McKiearnan was killed when an allegedly drunk driver fell head-on into his car.

It happened in Ashlan on Sunnyside Avenue in the Tarpey Village area around 7 a.m. Sunday.

CHP officials say a black truck driven by 35-year-old Narayana Zerr was heading east on Ashlan and swerved into the opposite direction, hitting another vehicle.

McKiearnan, his wife and their two children were in this car. Police say he died at the scene.

The woman was also injured, but is expected to survive. One of the children suffered many broken bones.

Zer was arrested and held in Fresno County Jail.
