ONE Cuyamaca College analyst will be honored on Monday from Community Colleges California Board of Directors with this year’s Classified Employee of the Year award across the state.

Katie Cabral, also president of the Campus Classified Senate, is one of seven recognized or uneducated staff across the state to be recognized.

“Ever since she started her work in research and programming with Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College site “In 2016, Katie stood out as an extremely talented and dedicated professional,” said Chancellor Lynn Neault. “Only after working for a year for our region, did he receive our respective local award for classified professionals. “I’m excited to see her now receiving recognition across the state for her commitment and excellence as a trademark.”

District Council President Debbie Justeson said she and her fellow trustees were quick to support Cabral’s nomination for the award, especially for her focus on diversity, equality and integration and her work with teachers.

He described Cabral ‘s ability to explain data in a way that was delicious and easy to understand “as” necessary “.

Cuyamaca College has received state and national recognition for justice-based initiatives that lead to increased student achievement in math and English transfers. Cabral has been described as an innovator, developing creative ways to present the data behind Cuyamaca’s successful efforts to fill the gaps in success.

Cuyamaca President Julianna Barnes will join Cabral on a trip to Sacramento to receive the award. Barnes added that Cabral’s progress in 2021 as chairman of the Kuyamaka Graduate Senate – a workers’ governing body – came at a critical time as the campus adapted to the reality of the pandemic.

“It has promoted communication, collaboration and advocacy among classified professionals in a way that is nothing short of remarkable,” Barnes said.

Cabral’s association with the college district began in 2014, when she began working as a part-time psychology instructor at Cuyamaca and Grossmont colleges. She put her teaching career on hold after being hired in the district.

Brianna Hays, senior dean at Cuyamaca, said the analyst “changed the face of campus research”.

The Bay Area native moved to San Diego to attend UC San Diego, where she earned a degree in psychology. She earned her master’s degree in social psychology and assessment at Claremont Graduate University and later returned to UCSD as an evaluator and researcher on mental health programs.
