Crews rescued a dog from a fire in southern Sacramento, authorities said. No one was injured in the fire. The blaze broke out near Gerber Road and Whisperwillow Drive around 6 p.m., the Sacramento Metro Fire Department said. Both the Sacramento Fire Department and the Metro Fire responded to the fire after someone close to it reported it. Authorities said the two-story family was not at home when the fire broke out. The crews managed to put out the fire before it spread to the attached two-story building. It is not clear how the fire started.
