Cosmic-ray scan of Great Pyramid of Giza could reveal hidden burial chamber

A new ultra-powerful scan of the Great Pyramid from Giza with cosmic rays could reveal the identity of two mysterious cavities inside.

The largest of the two cavities is just above the great gallery – a passageway leading to what may be the chamber of Pharaoh Cheops – and is about 30 meters long and 6 meters high according to previous pyramid scans. Archaeologists aren’t sure what they’ll find in the void, which could be one large area or several small rooms, they said. They also hope to discover the function of this void; The most fantastic possibility is that the opening is the hidden burial chamber of Khufu. A more mundane possibility is that the cavity played a role in the construction of the pyramid.
