Coronavirus vaccine clinic near Oakland City Hall closes amid high holiday demand for boosters

Oakland, CA (KGO)-With great concern about where to get booster shots, there are many pointings after one of Oakland’s major vaccination clinics has been completely closed.

As ABC7 is learning about it, we are also learning about the temporary closure of another vaccination site in San Mateo.

It’s time for the clinic to be busier than ever and people come out to get booster shots before the holidays.

Auckland’s major vaccination clinic, once next to the City Hall, is now completely closed.

The site, run by a third-party group, COVID Clinic, provided patients with first, second, and third shots, and provided more than 800 shots.

Why is the store closed even though there is such a strong demand? Well, that’s where the pointing comes from.

Initially, city officials said in a press release, “The COVID clinic in downtown Auckland was suddenly closed due to staff shortages and vaccine shortages.”

But those who have a clinic say it wasn’t.

The city representative then revealed what had happened, and the city asked the clinic to stay until the end of the month, offering the option of staying until 2022 if demand was still high. COVID clinic officials say they wouldn’t leave if the long-term stay option was set, but until 2022, they signed a contract to provide coronavirus testing and vaccines at a site in Auckland’s Fruitvale district. I was scared. After that, the staff was transferred. there.

This is just one of many confusing situations involving the COVID-19 vaccination site.

There was a shortage of staff at the San Mateo Medical Center on Monday, run by the HR Support Group and at a vaccination clinic separate from the hospital. We couldn’t open the clinic due to lack of staff.

I had to reschedule 180 appointments for the first, second, or third shots. County officials say the problem has been resolved and is no longer a problem.

Regarding the situation in Auckland, the city says it is disappointed with the non-profit clinic, but the clinic says it has made a promise that the city was not kept.

ABC7’s JR Stone went online Wednesday night to see other options nearby. This week, I had an appointment for a vaccine and booster immunization at a location in Walgreens, Auckland.
