A rapidly burning fire in Southern California that has burned many homes has led to evacuation orders from nearby residents. Helicopter antennas from NBC subsidiary KNBC show flames from what is known as a coastal fire burning homes along the gorge area between Laguna Niguel and Aliso Viejo in Orange County. In an evening briefing with firefighters in Southern California, a spokesman said about 20 homes had been destroyed. The fire has burned at least 200 acres, while there is no known limitation of the fire. Neighborhood evacuations in Laguna Nigel and voluntary evacuation orders were issued for the Balboa Nies neighborhood in Laguna Beach, according to KNBC. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office in Laguna Nigel said communities near Pacific Island Drive and Coronado Pointe should be evacuated to BCKN. reports that a water jet helps the Aliso Woods Gorge. The fire tore a thick brush as it burned uphill to the Aliso peak trail and neighboring houses. The huge cloud of smoke could be seen for miles in Orange and Los Angeles counties. Crews have dropped retardant fire lines around the perimeter of the coastal fire to help slow the spread.
