Clairemont house fire displaces 2; no injuries reported

The flames broke into a house in Clairemont on Monday afternoon, displacing two residents, authorities said.

The fire broke out at about 3:30 p.m. inside a house on Armstrong Street outside Ashford Street, just west of Interstate 805 and south of Balboa Avenue near Lindbergh Neighborhood Park, according to the San Diego Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived within five minutes and found flames burning all over the single-storey house and passing through the roof, the Fire and Rescue Service said in a statement. The crews searched the house, but no one was inside.

Firefighters managed to put out the fire without being injured, the service said. Two residents were displaced and staff from the local American Red Cross responded to help.

The fire brigade of the metro department of the Fire and Rescue Department will investigate “as is usual in fires like these”, the department said in a statement. No other details were immediately available.
