A California Highway Patrol officer who was shot in Highway 8 near Mission Valley last Wednesday was released from hospital Sunday.
California Highway Patrol Officer Tony Pacheco, who was shot in the leg while investigating a car crash Wednesday, has been released from hospital.
CHP officer Salvador Castro said Sunday that Officer Pacheco “has been released from hospital and is at home recovering.”
Pacheco was admitted to Scripps Mercy Hospital on April 27 when he suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The CHP said during the investigation, 25-year-old Yuhao Du attacked him and spread his gun when the gun came out. The good Samaritans are believed to have helped save Pacheco’s life by providing assistance until paramedics arrived on the scene. Other passersby kept Du on stage until his arrest.
Dou faces several charges, including attempting to assassinate a peace officer, assaulting a peace officer and removing a firearm from a peace officer. It will be driven on Tuesday.
