Neighbors living in the square are reluctant to accept something so tragic that it could happen.

“We thought it was missing at first because they wouldn’t tell us anything, it could be anyone,” says Diamond Johnson. “It hurts. I cried for her and I do not even know her.”

A mom who lives nearby brought her own daughter to light candles and honor the young life that was taken away too early

“I think the wrong name is to believe that we are excluded, that it does not happen in our community,” he said. “It’s here, it’s present and it’s not a matter of responsibility or risk of situation, it ‘s a prime fear.”

Detectives are not yet able to confirm whether the body found earlier was indeed Sophia Mason, who has been missing for more than a month now, but we are able to confirm that a body of a child was found in the home.
