Until November 2021, Camila Cabello was one half of the mega couple. The other side is, of course Shawn Mendes. However, several months and one breakup song (Mendes was released When you’re gone in April) later, and the singer has revealed that he is more focused on making friends than on a new relationship.
Talking Cosmopolitan UKCabello discussed her current expectations for romantic relationships, explaining, “I don’t pay a lot of attention to it.”
He continued: “I just really want to hang out with people, I want to make friends and I’ve made a lot of good friends in the last year… if something happens it’s really fun but I don’t put any pressure on it.”
However, the former Fifth Harmony member admitted that her mindset is relatively new to her. “I used to be like, ‘Yes, love, oh my God, love,’ and now I’m just trying to have fun,” she said. “I just want to live my life and have great friendships. If anything comes of it [them] it’s something more, it’s great.”
And it’s a mindset we’ve come to quite respect, especially in a world where it can seem pretty hard to shake off the idea of finding “the one” and connecting (cough Island of Love cough). Add to that, the constant Instagram selfies of loved-up couples who refuse to buy into the pressure can feel like an uphill climb, although Cabello has clearly reached the top (any secrets CC?).
Later in the interview, the star also spoke openly his struggle with anxiety in her teens and 20s, revealing: “It was something I just lived with. I was used to functional anxiety that got worse every six months.
“Then I started opening up to my friends and realized how much suffering and neuroses are normal and that we’re all crazy in our own way, but when it prevents you from creating healthy relationships and more often than not being in a relatively stable place that I had to seek therapy.”
And starting therapy has helped her realize where she was creating obstacles and difficulties in her own life: “Talking about it really helped me realize, ‘Oh, I think this is making my life harder than other people’s.'”
She added: “I think faking it is a form of psychological torture and brings the most anxiety. “We do so much in our society and culture. We’re always in a hurry and we smile when we’re not feeling well.
The Bam Bam vocalist also revealed he has a soft spot for Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who doesn’t?), gushing: ‘Ooh, and I love Flea bag. i love Falling down also Phoebe Waller-Bridge. I actually love Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
