Caltrain Delays Multiple Fare and Go-Pass Price Increases

Caltrane’s board has agreed to postpone planned tariff increases in an effort to encourage more people to travel by train, which serves the Gillero Peninsula to San Francisco.

The board’s vote is delaying the 2019 decision to raise the price by several Clipper tariffs, according to an announcement today from senior Caltrane officials.

A pair of 5% increases in Go Pass cost planned to take effect on the first day of 2023 and 2025 will be delayed a year anyway.

Two additional tariff increases were also delayed:

  • The basic tariff was supposed to rise by 50 cents on July 1, 2022 and July 1, 2026, but both were postponed for one year
  • A 25 cents increase in regional billing will now occur on July 1, 2025, instead of July 1, 2024.

The Board of Directors also approved a discount on Go Pass rates for 2023. Customers who sign up for the last six months of 2022 (no later than July 1, 2022) will receive a 20% discount on the Go Pass 2023 sale price of $ 342 per year ($ 273.60).
