California Top Doctor Recommends COVID-19 Vaccine Providers Pause Certain Batch After Allergic Reactions in San Diego – NBC 7 San Diego

Top California doctors recommend suspending the distribution of certain batches of COVID-19 vaccines associated with some allergic reactions in downtown San Diego.

State epidemiologist Erica S. Pan said in a statement Sunday evening that “a particular lot of modelna vaccine given at a local vaccination clinic reported more possible allergic reactions than usual. “.

NBC 7 confirmed that the state mentions a “vaccination superstation” in Tailgate Park. At this station, six people had an allergic reaction during the 15-minute observation period after being given a shot last week just two days after opening.

The incident caused a delay at the vaccination site on Wednesday, and others said they were completely turned away. A representative told NBC7 at the time that the delay was caused by a “logistic problem” related to higher doses of vaccine arriving at the location. However, Dr. Eric McDonald, director of the county’s epidemiology department, said in a COVID-19 briefing in the county that vaccination was delayed due to an allergic reaction.

Pan currently recommends vaccine providers to suspend the administration of Lot 41L20A of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Over 330,000 doses of lots have been distributed to 287 providers throughout California.

That particular batch is currently under investigation.

NBC7’s Dave Summers spoke to one of the medical professionals who had an allergic reaction.

A healthcare worker who had an allergic reaction in the field said he couldn’t feel his tongue and had neck pain after firing.

“They gave me 50 milliliters of bendryl, and then they started monitoring me even closer,” recalled local health care worker Diana Caniso. “In the meantime, someone else was on a stretcher.”

Despite her allergic reaction, Canizzo said her experience did not want anyone to be discouraged from taking the vaccine.

“I don’t want anyone to listen to me and decide.’Oh, I don’t want to get that vaccine because of what happened to her,'” she said. “I’m from another drug. I had some underlying condition. I don’t know if it worked. Maybe it was or wasn’t, but people with a lot of allergic reactions You might just think about it and talk to your doctor. “

The Governor’s announcement that people over the age of 65 are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine has given 500,000 Sandigans the hope they can get it. See Bridget Naso on NBC7 for more details.
