SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – This Friday marks the return of the California State Games. Although there will be some major changes, starting with the opening ceremonies.

They had to cancel the Coronado Jr. event. Lifeguards due to poor water/wastewater quality in Coronado, but now they will have a chance to compete.

“It is unfortunate and disappointing for the athletes who (were) competing in the Cal State Games Jr. competition. 2022 Lifeguard in Coronado,” Sandi Hill, executive director of the California State Games, said in a statement. “Our permit was canceled due to water quality concerns.”
