A three-month-old baby was abducted by a stranger while his grandmother was unloading groceries from her car, causing a police chase.

The man ran into a house in the 1000 block on Elm Street at 13.00 and left with the boy.

Police released a video clip showing the man walking across the sidewalk wearing a carrier with a white blanket.

“The family does not recognize this suspect,” police said in a Twitter post.

San Jose Police Sgt. Christian Camarillo said at a press conference: ‘[The grandmother] arrived at this apartment, she took the baby into the apartment, went downstairs to unload some groceries.

“In that short time, someone came into the apartment and left with the baby.”

Authorities did not issue an Amber Alert because investigators did not have a car description.
