His body may have been in the station for more than 30 minutes before it was discovered, police said.

Friday night, members of the Escondido Police Department responded to the Pearl self-service autowashing at 2189 East Valley Parkway, where they found the body of a 56-year-old man, whose name was not immediately released.

The man was “caught between a 2014 Scion XB and part of the car wash,” according to a press release.

NBC San Diego reports that shortly after the man got into the car wash, he got out of his car as it rolled forward, and caught himself against the car wash.

Police do not yet know why he got out of the car, but want to confirm that the car wash was not activated at the time of the incident.

The collision of the man’s body, the car and the car wash machines caused an alarm to go off, causing an employee to discover him outside his car before calling the police.

However, authorities said the alarm may have gone off for up to half an hour before the man was discovered.

Responding officers were able to lift the man’s car and free him, where CPR was performed by EMS.

The man was transferred to Palomar Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

As of Sunday, the traffic division of the EPD was investigating surveillance videos in the neighborhood to find out why the victim got out of his car and how he was caught, according to NBC San Diego.
