California heat: Doctor warns drastic swing in temperatures could affect your allergies, giving ‘weather whiplash’

FRESNO, CA (KFSN) – Rollercoaster weather as we see this week can adversely affect your body.

Fresno fell from the 90s on Friday to the upper 60s on Monday.

Allergy experts say that a change in temperatures above 20 degrees in a short time can mean a shock to the system. This could lead to early allergy symptoms as we adapt to the weather.

Some people may experience itchy eyes, runny nose, sore throat or even trouble breathing.

“Internally, our bodies wonder what ‘s going on, so the risk of a fight or flight is activated and that’ s why you feel chills depending on the temperature,” said allergist Dr Praveen Buddiga.

Health experts say that in some cases, people may also experience dizziness.
