The Canyon Country strip mall company evacuated Wednesday after a Santa Clarita Valley Security Agency agent responded to reports of a bomb threat.
“We are working on a business in 16400 blocks of Delone Street in Canyon Country and are investigating suspicious activity,” said Natalie Alaiga, a spokeswoman for the SCV Sheriff’s Office.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials also responded to the strip mall site, confirming that it was first reported as a bomb threat shortly before 1:00 pm, according to Marvin Lim.
“The evacuation is underway. They are on the scene with the sheriff and it seems that the sheriff (agent) is trying to take the lead,” Lim said at 1:15 pm.
As of 1:30 pm, firefighters were waiting for the arrival of the bomb detection dog, Lim added.
SCV Sheriff officials advised the public to stay away from the area during the investigation.
This is the latest news and will be updated as more information becomes available.
