VICTORVILLE, California (VVNG.com) – At least one person was shot at the Mall of Victor Valley on Tuesday night.

According to the family, the victim, a nine-year-old girl, was shot several times.

On April 12, 2022, around 6:30 p.m., dozens of ambulances reported to the mall located at 14,400 blocks of Bear Valley Road in Victorville.

“One person was injured and is currently being taken to hospital. The armed attacker is still unresolved, “sheriff’s officials told the VVNG.

Emergency personnel were asked to respond to the Barnes & Noble entrance for the firearm victim. In addition, a helicopter landed nearby to transport the victim by air to the trauma center.

Around 7:05 p.m., Victorville City Fire declared the incident an ‘Active Shooter’ and established a place to collect casualties in the Barnes & Noble car park.

Customers inside the mall have been evacuated, and the mall is expected to remain closed until the end of the night.

UPDATE @ 20:50: Sheriff’s officials said the suspect fled the scene, and deputies are currently investigating the trail. In addition, officials confirmed that this appears to be an isolated incident and is not considered an active event. The mall will remain closed until the end of the evening. More information will be available in a press release tomorrow morning.

UPDATE @ 22:10 – Robin Moraga-Saldarelli updated the VVNG and said that her granddaughter was the one who was shot in the mall tonight. “3 gunshot wounds to the arm. He broke her upper bone. She is doing well and will recover in time, “said Robin.

UPDATE @ 22:35 – The victim’s family spoke to Fox11 News and said they do not recognize the suspected killer as someone they know or recognize. The young girl was getting ready to take a picture with the Easter Bunny when the attacker opened fire.
