Dozens of workers lost their jobs in the weeks after a tornado hit a California warehouse

Weeks after a tornado hit the industrial area of ​​Montebello, damage from a rare weather event put dozens of workers out of work at one warehouse.

A total of 57 workers at Utilimaster, a specialty vehicle service company along Vale Avenue, will be out of work, according to the city of Montebello.

The Twister on March 22nd ripped off the warehouse roof. The building suffered structural damage and water damage, trees fell on the property and debris was left around.

One of 17 businesses red tagged due to the tornado. Weeks later, the sales office in the area remains boarded up and cleanup is still in progress.

At the end of March, the city was notified by Utilimaster’s parent company that the employee had been given 60 days’ notice of the termination.

A company manager declined to comment on the situation on Tuesday.
