Boy spent 4 days in ICU after being bitten by water moccasin in Florida

A Florida boy spent four days in the intensive care unit after being bitten by a venomous snake. According to News4Jax, 7-year-old Clay County boy nearly died after the incident. Elijah and his mother said it happened outside their Green Cove Springs home on June 3. “I was in the backyard playing and I was about to lift a rock and the snake jumped out and bit me,” he said. The boy was rushed to Wolfson Children’s Hospital, where he spent an entire week. “He had seven bags with a sign. He had to get a supply pipe. “She did not eat for four days,” said mother Sanita Bustamante. The boy is still undergoing physiotherapy and can not walk yet. The doctors took some time to determine what kind of snake was what bit Elijah. “He said it was dark gray with dark spots and a thick head. “Many doctors took their phones and took them out differently and every time he chose one he ended up being the moccasin water snake,” said Bustamante. The Florida Poison Center urges anyone bitten by a snake to seek immediate medical attention. “Please do not freeze where the snake has bitten,” said spokesman Mike McCormick. “Please do not try to catch the snake. If it’s safe to do and you can take a picture, it does not matter, but do not try to take them. “Please do not try to cut the wound and suck the poison.”
