Boyle Heights — A boy was deadly shot dead near an elementary school in Boyle Heights on Tuesday, and police were searching for a shooter.
The shooting was reported around 3:30 pm in the areas of East First Street and South Savannah Street near First Street Elementary School, according to Los Angeles Police Department Rosario Cervantes.
The boy was declared dead on the scene. His name and age were not announced immediately.
Police officers established boundaries in the area in search of shooters. One was detained, according to reports from the scene, but police were still searching for a second suspect.
No further details were immediately available.

Alvarado was taken to the hospital and died of an injury.
