IN California woman who disappeared while on a walk has been discovered dead by a suspected suicide, according to her family.
The Placer County Sheriff’s Office said the body of 26-year-old Kerina Blue was found Sunday in the Green Valley Trail near the small town of Alta, about 60 miles northeast of Sacramento.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, the sheriff’s office received a call from the Sacramento Police Department regarding Blue, who was reported missing by her parents. She was described as a risk due to an unspecified medical condition.

After Blue’s body was recovered, her family published a statement revealing that she had struggled with depression and was likely taking her own life.

Blue’s last known location was the Green Valley Trail, a popular hiking trail where the terrain is rough, steep and densely forested.
Blue’s older sister wrote on her Instagram page that according to authorities, the missing woman’s phone finally rang five miles northeast of Emigrant Gap, off I-80, on Friday at 2:30 p.m.
“Kerina was not home to feed her cat and does not normally walk, especially not alone,” the sister wrote on social media.
Dozens of searches, K-9 units and helicopters spent the day Saturday searching for the missing woman before the search for the night was stopped.
The search was restarted Sunday morning, and by noon Blue’s body had been recovered at the Green Valley Trail. Deputies said no violation was suspected.

Blue’s family posted a statement on the sister’s Instagram account on Sunday, revealing that the 26-year-old had been struggling with mental health issues since she was a child, and that she was probably her own took life.
‘Our family is devastated to report that we lost our beautiful Kerina this weekend,’ reads the message in part. ‘Thank you for all the outpouring of love and support. While there were indications that even damage was done, we do not yet know the exact cause of death. We know she’s struggled with depression and mental illness for the past 14 years. ‘
