SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – The San Diego County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously in favor of Jim Desmond and Joel Anderson’s gas tax suspension proposal, making San Diego County the first county in the state to suspend gas field in California.
The unanimous vote will then direct the Chief Executive Officer to urge Governor Gavin Newsom to implement the gas tax suspension.
The state currently has a $ 45 billion surplus in the state budget.
According to the Office of the State Legislative Analyst,
Using that 15% surplus (about $ 6.8 billion) could cut gas prices across California by 51 cents a gallon while still funding all the money for the road infrastructure. according to the State’s Legislative Analyst Office.
