BLOOMINGTON, CA – Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr. helped kick-start the baseball season by attending the Opening Day Ceremonies for the Bloomington Minor League in Kessler Park. All the Little League teams were present and they were able to participate in games and gifts. The highlight of the opening was the presence of the two 1981 Dodger World Series Champions and co-MVPs, third baseman Ron Cey and returnee Steve Yeager. The event was supported by the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department, the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Bloomington Municipal Advisory Council (MAC).
“Bloomington’s Open Day Ceremony kicked off with a good note as the community gathered in Kessler Park to kick off the baseball season. The event was well attended and a great deal of community support was present for the junior leagues. Bloomington Little League members were delighted to see baseball legends Ron Cey and Steve Yeager attend the event. Alumni Dodger gave an inspiring speech to the children. The presence of these 1981 World Series champions at the opening was very special for the Small League. Some of the lucky players left the baseball event with autographs and letters. I can’t wait to play in the Bloomington Small League this season and I can’t wait for the rest of the baseball season! ” -Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.
