A 26-year-old man died Wednesday night when he was hit by an ice cream truck on his bike at a St. Mark’s intersection, sheriff officials said.
The truck collided with the bicycle at the intersection of Pico Avenue and West Mission Road shortly after 8 p.m. A witness told lawmakers that the driver of the truck turned west on West Mission with the green light and hit the cyclist, who was traveling southwest opposite the intersection. a red light.
The cyclist was not wearing a helmet. He died at the scene before being taken to hospital, officials said. His name was not released.
The 63-year-old driver of the ice cream truck was not injured.
