Rosamund Pike from I Care a Lot.

Netflix / Amazon Prime

If the movie seems to have been a quiet year, it’s probably.Box office topper F9, Godzilla vs Kong When Black widow It helped scratch that itch for a spectacular blockbuster, but which other movie made us talk?

For the right reason, it is.So no Woman in the window It’s on this list. Oscar There is no doubt that it is a useful way to pull out a movie that impressed you. I care a lot

Two words: Rosamund Pike. Yes, she’s doing something that feels like Gone Girl’s Amy Dan shade. But her I Care a Lot scammer Marla Grayson is also memorable and is not shy about stealing money from the old man. I Care a Lot is inspired by real news stories from professional parents in the United States and the legal loopholes they exploit. It moves at a smooth pace and features the character of Aviator Sunglasses and an anti-heroine destined to be enveloped in a bigger crime ruler than the real thing. Every movie must be this interesting one.

Mitchell family and machines

Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have one of the best strike rates in the game, especially when it comes to animation features. Mitchells vs. the Machines, for example To Spider-Verse But it’s arguably my favorite animated movie in 2021. It’s been a year of bringing Raya and the Last Dragon and Luka, and it’s not an average feat.

Mike Rianda’s directorial debut, The Mitchells and Machines, essentially brings indie aesthetics to children’s films. It’s a bit patronized and clichéd, but has the charm and wit to overcome concerns about energy and delicacy. Good old Rick Mitchell Special.. It can be reviewed over and over again with many memorable set pieces and a million and one quarterable line. Aboard.

Barb and Star go to Vista del Mar

Barb and Star is the perfect movie for 2021. It’s just a pastel tropical absurdity. It’s also a great fugitive movie for when you’re blocked in Australia and you don’t think you can have a cocktail on the beach right away. Bridesmaid Dream Team Kristen Wiig and Annie Mamoro are writing and appearing as middle-aged women in this illustrious psychedelic acid trip out of the comfort zone, on vacation, finding brilliance, and threesomeing with Jamie Dornan. .. of course! It’s ridiculous, cheerful, and has a lot of wacky twists that make it truly memorable. I’m sorry, but that’s all I can say without too much ruin. You have to make it happen to you, and you will have a great time.

Fear Street: 1994/1978/1666

I entered the Fear Street trilogy with very low expectations – and they surpassed all of them. Fear Street is based on the RL Stine series of the same name and is aimed at teens rather than Goosebumps for kids. They are fun and brutal slasher movies with amazingly good and tragic stories. Of course, there are some classic RL Stein twists that keep you guessing until the end of Part 3.

If you want to know more about horror, or if you want to introduce this genre to teens (ie 15/16 plus), there are some action and sex scenes in pants that aren’t fun to watch with your family. ) I really recommend these movies! There’s just enough horror and creep factors to leave you on the edge of the seat, but it’s still so much fun and stupid that you won’t hide behind your pillow.

In the Heights

Macall Polay / Warner Bros.

I love musicals as good as the kids in the next play, but I think everyone can admit that the last five to six years haven’t been the best fit for the movie. In the HeightsHowever, this is one movie version that I have recommended to people outside the realm of musical theaters, and it wipes out the memory of a nightmare (so to speak). Cat..

In the Heights has adopted Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first work and features talented people (certainly). Not as representative as it should be) Cast while experiencing life in Bodega, Washington Heights. There is love, loss, drama, conspiracy, Piragua, and lots of great choreography. If you’re the type of person who enjoys Hamilton and is fluttering with the song, you’ll probably get a kick from In the Heights-and yes, Lin-Manuel Miranda Cameo.

No sudden movement

Don Cheadle, Benicio del Toro, David Harbor, Brendan Fraser and Ray Liotta are wearing hats. Fun and tough from start to finish.

Apple TV Plus

This movie about Deaf kids has a great soundtrack-and it’s to show us about the otherness that different people feel when navigating a society where they really don’t know how to include them. Use that music. Yes, I took out the tissue for this pleasing movie. This is also about the family getting together in a new way.

But I’m very impressed and recommend this film as a writer and director, Sian Heder, to connect the beauty and emotional power of music with people. How did you use the lack of sound?Joni Mitchell’s Both sides, now When You are all I need to get through Over and over again by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell-but when the musical experience magically hears how CODA offers these songs, I promise you.

Gunpowder Milkshake

To be honest, they welcomed me to Michelle Yeoh, Carla Gugino, Angela Bassett and Lena Headey. With a palette of neon and bubble gum, this stylized action thriller isn’t really that original, but it’s a lot of fun for those who don’t mind a lot of violence.

The protagonist of our story is played by Karen Gillan, a likable actor who has mastered playing Kick-Ass as the adult Martha of Jumanji and as the nebula of Marvel’s Avengers series. She will build those personas as Sam, a highly successful assassin with a moral code that guides her to save the young girl from other hitmen. A valuable action movie usually has at least one battle scene. “Well, that’s crazy but cool.” What Gunpowder Milkshake offers: Sam confronts many bad guys after being injected with a temporary arm-paralyzing drug. Well, that’s some elegant rotation.

little things

Warner Brothers Pictures

My sister and I are big fans of Rami Malek. I was just boarding when she recommended The Little Things (a crime thriller starring Marek, Denzel Washington, and Jared Leto). Little Things follows Joe “Deek” Deacon (Washington), a shameful former detective to deputy sheriff, and detective Jimmy Baxter (Marek). When Deke notices the MO similarities between the recent murder and the unsolved case, the pair teams up and begins a somewhat unorthodox investigation. Deke and Baxter return home to Albert Spalmah (Let), who provokes the silence of the sheep and the detective of the zodiac.

The actors bring a lot to the Little Things table, which lives up to its name in terms of plots. The contrast between Deke’s gloomy and disgusting personality and Baxter’s professional innocence and the dual view of good and evil sets the moment of excitement with Sparmae. Every moment is upset by the volatility of LA in the 90’s with stunning conclusions.

Chloe Zhao’s Nomadland has won numerous awards at film festivals and, of course, has won the Oscar for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress. Zhao is a true hard worker, directing, editing and writing this meditative and fascinating drama about a woman (Frances McDormand) who left home to travel the western United States. Get this: Members of the Supportcast are real nomads playing a fictional version. Watch this extraordinary filmmaking from the director who brings her unique lens to Marvel’s Eternals later this year.

Minari starred Stephen Yun in a delicate and authentic portrait of a family of Korean immigrants trying to assimilate into American country life in the 1980s. Youn Yuh Jung Sweep Awards show was definitely seen correctly, ending with winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.

Quiet Place Part II

listen. Quiet Place Part II It’s a sequel to almost silence, but we need to say more in the era of pandemics. The suspense thriller, written and directed by John Krasinski and projected on screen by Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, is a precisely crafted suspense without maximizing the 2018 original. It is satisfied.

Judah and Black Messiah

Warner Bros.

Judas and the Black Messiah made waves in Oscar and won the highest supporting actor award among many Daniel Kaluuya nominations. It was well worth it. Kaluuya is fascinated by Fred Hampton, chairman of the Black Panther branch of Illinois, illuminating the screen with Lake Stanfield, who plays the FBI informant sent to infiltrate the party. increase. Biographical and dramatic real-life events of the late 1960s are riveted, shocking and sizzling on the subject of racial injustice. A big and heavy movie that requires your full attention.
