Bakersfield police holding distracted driving enforcement period

BAKERSFIELD, California (KERO) – April Distracted Driving Awareness Dead April, Bakersfield Police Department reminds the community to keep an eye on the road.

Starting Monday, Bakersfield police will conduct a period of enforcement for distracted driving.

BPD is partnering with other agencies across the state to enforce California’s hands-free cell phone law.

This period will be extended until April 29.

Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol is offering a free class for teen drivers and their parents.

Officials will help families learn about safe driving habits and how to manage stress when they are behind the wheel.

The course will begin on Tuesday, April 12 at the Bakersfield CHP office.
