Bakersfield man arrested in $16K Porterville meat theft

BAKERSFIELD, California (KERO) – A Bakersfield man was arrested on Thursday for stealing more than $ 16,000 worth of meat in Porterville.

The Porterville Police Department said they were informed of two incidents that took place on March 21 in the block below 100 on South Cobb Street.

The two incidents occurred in January, when the man ordered large meat orders, which were later stolen using a specified credit card, Porterville police said.

Detectives identified Martin Estrada Saavedra as the suspect, Porterville police said.

Porterville Police, with the help of the Bakersfield Police Department and Kern County Probation, arrested Saavedra on Thursday at Block 6000 on Bakersfield Lowers Street.

Saavedra was arrested on charges of identity theft, fraud, grand theft and robbery.
