Holmann told TechCrunch that AtomChat was their third startup and was inspired by a former outbound retailer. Today, the vast majority of people in Latin America skip shopping on the web and instead use a combination of apps such as WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. 3.5 billion users send 20 billion messages each month.

According to Holman, some customers have been able to triple their sales two months after implementing AtomChat.

Andres Barreto, managing director of Techstars Boulder, met the company while attending the accelerator program last year and decided to help them.

The tools available were created by U.S. companies thinking from the perspective of U.S. consumers, but Latin America is instead one of the regions where e-commerce skipped the web and moved directly to messaging apps. He said.

“Eric and Rene understand that the world outside the United States is changing and are dramatically improving technologies that don’t work in Latin America,” Barrett added. “Currently, we have the majority of spending through messaging and superappli, which is a huge opportunity for them.”

The company continues to grow its revenue by 15% every month, so new capital injections will be focused on technology development.

Over the last two years, AtomChat has won a list of corporate customers in 14 countries, including Toyota, Hyundai, Ford, GNC and Avis. For example, over 15 million customers were involved in messaging and 140 million messages were sent through the platform.

“We are just getting started,” Holman said. “We are not trying to reinvent the wheels of the sales team, but we do allow the sales team to handle the conversation in an efficient way.”
