Arrested for shooting outside San Mateo bar in April

SAN MATEO – Police said Wednesday they had arrested a shooting incident outside a bar in San Mateo last month.

Three men got into a fight with two others inside a bar, according to the San Mateo Police Department. A member of the first group punched a member of the second group in the face. The brawl continued outside the bar, with a member of the first group snatching a gun from the car.

Police said the individual fired one shot into the air and then two or three shots into the ground. One of his bullets fired into the ground grazed the 26-year-old man’s leg.

Police said the first group left in two cars before officers arrived at the bar.

Police identified the suspect in the shooting as a 25-year-old Redwood City resident and took him into custody Wednesday morning. He was incarcerated in the San Mateo County Jail for assault with a firearm, inadvertent release of a firearm in public, possession of a firearm by a person on probation, and carrying a loaded firearm.
