Armed robbers apologizing take over California sandwich shop

Police in Chatsworth are investigating an armed robbery suspect who repeated how disappointing he was while holding down a popular sandwich shop last week with particular remorse.

Security camera footage of the robbery shows the suspect wearing a white mask and a black scarf around his head as he approached the Capriotti counter on De Soto Avenue last Wednesday afternoon. .

After ordering, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the cash register.

A store employee told KTLA that the suspected armed robbery appeared particularly nervous and repeatedly apologized for the crime, saying, “I’m sorry, but I really needed the money for my family.”

Capriotti’s owner said it was the third time her sandwich shop had been targeted by thieves.

The robber was armed, but reportedly remorseful, and fled with about $500 in cash.
